The Gift of Idle Hours

Here is a selection of images from the photo-shoot of our current collection
'The Gift of Idle Hours'
We shot these images on a gloomy, rainy day a couple of months ago, with the wonder team that is Cameron Etchells (photographer) Hannah McGrath (stylist) and Constance Bowles (hair and makeup) all from All Of The Above Creative.

The collection is inspired by the playfulness and innocence of children and the simplistic charm of childhood. Having those precious hours in the day to play, create, dream and just be. We played with this idea for the concept of our shoot, our models were lounging around like children would on a grey gloomy day, longing to go outside and play, but instead making use of their indoor surroundings, crafting a tent from old sheets, playing dress up, having a tea party and playing with their cat!

Our beautiful models for the day were Jasmine Waters and Amy Raats, both from Scene.

You can see the rest of the images at our website and view the collection at our online store

If you see a Penny pick it up.

I wear dresses all the time, nearly everyday actually, summer, winter, come rain or shine. I love how you easily you can accessorise a dress- layer with jackets, tights and coats in the winter, or an awesome pair of shoes and jewellery in the summer.
The Penny dress is what I find to be the perfect dress for everyday. It is made in a light cotton voile and comes in a dusky lilac colour, and sits just above the knee (the perfect length for practical everyday wear- not to long, not to short). It has lovely seaming detail in the top and cute little buttons down the back. Its quite light weight, the fabric being very light but not to floaty (as to avoid any embarassing encounters with the wind!).

It is available to buy at our online store and retails at $120.
It is also available to buy with an attached peter pan collar for $150

Moodboards

Here is a little bit of an insight into our creative workspace.
Making moodboards is always a fun and inspiring activity. Sitting inside on a cold stormy day, with a big pot of tea and yummy baked goodies, rifling through magazines and books and sourcing colour palettes and fabrics. Then sorting through the literally hundreds of images we collect to put together a visual story as the inspiration for our collections. One of our favourite parts of designing

Madeline

The Madeline dress is one of my favourite pieces from our current collection. It is a beautiful olive green colour that you can wear all year round, and I feel like a little girl playing dress up. Its in a light weight airy cotton, but the skirt is full and voluminous, great for twirling around in, just like I used to do when I was a kid! (ok I still do that now...)

It retails at $210 (AUD) and is available to buy at our webstore www.lonelyasacloud.bigcartel.com

We Love Foxes

These bushy tailed redheads, with a reputation for being sly and cunning are among some of our favourite creatures.

The most common family member is the Red fox, these guys look particular attractive on a back drop of snow, during a cold English winter.

The beautiful, silky white fur and black beady eyes, piercing against the crisp icy backdrop, the Arctic Fox is another of our favourites.

Perhaps one of our favourite breeds, their melodious, dulcet tones, keep us company quite a bit whilst we are sewing.

Fleet Foxes
